Scandinavia Hotel, Liverpool

scandinavian

The site of the former Scandinavia Hotel lies on the edge of the Duke Street Conservation Area in the Chinatown area in central Liverpool.

The original four storey with basement masonry hotel had a steel frame factory built onto the rear in the 1930’s.

The property, used as a parachute factory during the last war, had fallen into disrepair and had been empty for over fifteen years.

The redevelopment included the retention of a 19th Century facade, new timber floors to the hotel, the removal of the central area of the factory to form an atrium and the addition of two additional floors in timber framing. The ground floor of the factory was raised to create sufficient headroom for retail space at lower ground floor level.

Beith St, Glasgow

Siting on the site of the former Partick railway station, on the banks of the River Kelvin, the land forms part of a wider masterplan.
