Within the higher education sector Alan Johnston Partnership LLP have a long established relationship with Edge Hill and Liverpool Universities and a more recent association with The University of Chester. We have worked for Edge Hill University over a period of fifteen years and to date have completed twelve projects with a build cost of £45m. Recently we were commissioned to complete three projects for The University of Chester.
Our considerable further education experience increased from 2005 when the LSC orchestrated the development of sixth form colleges throughout the country. The practice prepared initial feasibility studies for some sites and were employed from Stage C through to completion on many more. The procurement route was usually by two stage design and build tender with our practice novated to the successful contractor. Since the funding was dramatically curtained in early 2009 the Practice has one major project currently about to go onto site. However, colleges which had to abandon major redevelopment projects have now started to find funding of their own. We are currently involved in a significant refurbishment project at Cardinal Newman after their Phase 2 & 4 redevelopment (£15m) was halted a month before work started on site. We have also been retained to complete initial work for a new build phase at Blackpool Sixth Form College.
The practice has completed numerous primary, junior and secondary schools over the last twenty years. A framework agreement with both Sefton Council and the Liverpool Archdiocese has led to a constant flow of projects throughout the Merseyside area.
Alan Johnston Partnership LLP are also involved with Building Schools for the Future in Liverpool working for a major contractor with a large new school in Liverpool.
